You will provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations in addition to the following:Nearly constant contact with others outside the work groupAdministers divisional and Corporate policiesMeets cost schedule and quality requirementsMaintains Corporate and unit management control systems budget and other information necessary to monitor performance in addition to maintaining safety and good housekeeping standardsComplies with the terms of local and national labor agreementsAssist in the forecasting of areas of responsibility and Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job or projectWhat Youll Do (Responsibilities):Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment. Assists in the overall direction and coordination of manufacturing activities.Manages the floor operationsPromotes educates communicates and follows up on safety initiativesAssist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operationsExcellent communication skillsPlanning and organizational abilityKnowledge of GM Global Manufacturing SystemsKnowledge of quality control procedures manufacturing processes and management systems as they relate to production operationsMust be willing to rotate shiftsProvide leadership for SPQRC for the department and lead the SPQRCE initiativesKnowledge of the total production processCommunicate status to following shiftsChampion of allocated BPD activitiesDiscuss weekly production plan with production controlMake adjustments to the schedule as needed as a result of production problemsAllocate manpower as needed. Plan release for trainingMaintain shift/department safety by conducting audits observations and follow up of all incidents ensuring corrective actions are in place as required and completedWorks with maintenance on maintaining good TPM programSign off standardized work chartsLead shift meetings for SPQRCReport shift status to Assistant Plant Manager (APM); Prepare and conduct daily report outsCoach Group leaders and improve their skills knowledge and performanceExecute CIP workshops in the areas of Quality & CostLiaise with customers for quality problems and co-ordinate countermeasuresSupport APM to resolve manpower issues in conjunction with unionManages budget and achievement of productivity improvementsEnsure cost control achieves budget needsInteracts with Local ME on processing lay out and tooling for current and future productsDemonstrated experience and ability negotiating with the union leadership and managing both salary and hourly personnel concernsYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):Bachelors degree or equivalent relevant experience5 years of experience in MachiningHigh level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficultDemonstrated ability and experience as a people leaderHigh level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with othersHigh level of oral and written communication skillsStrong project management leadership skillsAbility to travel 25% of the time based on business needs domestically and/or internationally.What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications):Masters Degree7 years of relevant MachiningExperience with GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP)Knowledge of system engineering software development and hardware integrationDemonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related areaSponsorship:GM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMIGRATION-RELATED SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position as well as geography of the selected candidate. The salary range for this role is ($114400 - $179000). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
