Job Title: Art Therapy Specialist (Charlotte County, FL) Location: Charlotte County, FL Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 61744 Department Department of Art Education - Corrections Art Therapy, Prisons ProgramResponsibilities Responsible for providing art therapy services at a correctional institution in Charlotte County, Florida. The art therapy services to be provided shall include individual and small group settings where the primary objective is to provide therapeutic services to prison inmates that are eligible for special education service as well as individuals with significant mental health needs. These individuals will have documented emotional and behavioral concerns or have demonstrated significant behavioral issues while incarcerated. The services provided will work to reduce participants’ disciplinary referrals and time spent in confinement and increase access to academic services.Works closely with the Administrative Director [Evie Soape, ATR-BC, LMHC] and Project Director [Dave Gussak, PhD, ATR-BC] to gather outcome data monthly and annually based off research conducted.Other responsibilities will be included as outlined in the Scope of Service as agreed upon between the University and the Department.Qualifications Master’s degree in Art Therapy or related field, that meet meet the expectations for the national credentials ATRP (Registered Art Therapist, Provisional), ATR (Registered Art Therapist) or ATRBC (Registered Art Therapist, Board Certified).Preferred Qualifications Credentialed in the ATRP (Registered Art Therapist, Provisional), ATR (Registered Art Therapist) or ATRBC (Registered Art Therapist, Board Certified).Clinical experience with adults with intellectual, behavioral, and/or emotional difficulties in a clinical and/or correctional setting.Ability to demonstrate critical thinking based upon in-depth data, substantiating information, considering and respecting others' input personal values, and ethics.Experience with independently performing tests, examinations, and procedures relevant to the assigned area of research.Experience preparing reports and presenting scientific findings.Knowledge of the principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation.Contact Info Evie Soape, ATR-BC, LMHC Administrative Director, Art Therapist FSU/FDC Art Therapy in Prisons Program [email protected] Gussak, PhD, ATR-BC Florida State University; Professor of Art Therapy FSU/FDC Art Therapy in Prisons Program Consultant - [email protected] Information One of the nation's elite research universities, Florida State University preserves, expands, and disseminates knowledge in the sciences, technology, arts, humanities, and professions, while embracing a philosophy of learning strongly rooted in the traditions of the liberal arts and critical thinking.
