A candidate shall be expected to demonstrate successful experience pertinent to the position they are being recommended and have demonstrated qualities relevant to the goals of the academic unit in which they will be employed. Candidates for Associate Professor shall hold the highest degree appropriate to their field or possess professional qualifications above those equivalent to the highest degree relevant to their field. They are expected to have produced creative work, professional writing, or research and successful teaching or professional experience. A candidate for this rank must have a distinguished record of achievement beyond the assistant professor level. Candidates for Full Professor shall be qualified for the rank of associate professor and, in addition, be a recognized national or international authority or an outstanding teacher in their field or specialization. A candidate for this rank must have a distinguished record of achievement beyond the associate professor level.Job Description: The University of Florida invites applications for an open rank (Assistant/Associate/Full) tenure-track Professor of Teacher Education position with a focus on initial teacher preparation and technology to work within the Teachers, Schools, and Society (TSS) program in the School of Teaching and Learning (STL) at UF. The TSS program area focuses on issues that impact 21st century education and teacher education, as faculty study the intersections of curriculum, teaching, and teacher education in a technology-rich global society. This position builds upon a rich tradition of excellence in scholarship on teacher preparation and professional learning. The successful applicant will join a collaborative, cohesive, and energetic community of scholars within the College that is committed to high quality teaching, research, and service. We welcome a candidate whose scholarship focuses on issues of critical national and global importance in teacher education including: critical, theoretical and foundational approaches towards initial teacher preparation that incorporate creative and ethical use of AI, digital fairness, and comprehensive design principles; theory and practice of technology-centered teacher education and supervision; the initial and ongoing development of high-quality teachers for all students; the design, development, and assessment of teacher preparation programs in the age of accountability and ubiquitous digital learning tools (e.g. simulations, virtual/augmented reality, AI); clinically-rich traditional and alternative pathways in teacher education; and the future of teaching and learning in an era of big data and generative AI. Our faculty share a commitment to advancing opportunities and outcomes for all in P-12 education. The successful applicant for the tenure-track position is expected to maintain a clear, systematic line of research; regularly seek external funding; publish in major scholarly journals; present research findings at meetings of professional associations; contribute to advising and teaching, especially through the provision of scholarly and conceptual leadership in the STL's elementary and/or secondary teacher education programs; and recruiting and mentoring doctoral students in both our on-campus research intensive Ph.D. program and online professional practice doctorate. Additionally, the successful applicant will engage in service to the program, school, college, university, and profession. This 9-month tenure-accruing faculty appointment will begin August 2026 and include the possibility of summer employment. Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
