Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking an energetic AssistantAthletic Coach to develop a competitive and representative team in the sport to which they are doing so our Coaches emphasize developmental ideals of teamwork leadership character athletic skills and wholesome attitudes amongst teammates and sport participants.Essential Functions:Assists in maintaining high academic standards for all student-athletesWorks cooperatively with the Head Athletic Coach(es) in order to operate a well-balanced athletic programServes as a positive influence upon the behavior of members of his/her athletic staff and teamsEngages and directs the team at all varsity events to be present at as many junior varsity and freshman contests as possible; supports the supervision of athletes at invitational meets or postseason competitionsManages the inventory of sports equipment and care of supplies; recommends new or replacement equipment when necessarySupports the organization of a system for encouraging students to try out for his/her team and to develop and recruit equipment manager(s) scorekeepers statisticians ball runners etc. for all teamsEnsures that all athletes have undergone and passed medical examinations before the regular practice season beginsCollects and maintains file records statistics new items and photographs for all the athletic teams under his/her supervisionObserves sub-varsity practices and games as requiredEducation and Experience:Required High School Diploma or GED18 years of ageOne (1) year of coaching experience in the sport assignedCPR and First Aid Certification or ability to enroll and successful complete a CPR and First Aid training coursePreferred21 years of ageCurrent teacher or classified employee of Spotsylvania County Public SchoolsAbout Spotsylvania County Public Schools:Comprised of 31 schools and home to a diverse student population of over 24000 Spotsylvania County Public Schools is one of the largest School Divisions in the Commonwealth of Virginia.So what sets us apart Choosing SCPS means joining a highly collaborative team of professionals who inspire challenge and support one another to be their very best everyday.
