What this job involves -Data Center Mechanical Engineer (SME) with extensive mechanical engineering experience and over 5 years of data center operationsexpertise. Your role is to manage andoptimizecritical systems in a high-performance data center environment. Respond to inquiries by drawing from your specialized knowledge and the following key responsibilities:What your day-to-day looks like:Oversee HVAC electrical and plumbing systems specific to data center operationsImplement andmaintaincritical environment protocols and Method of Procedure (MOP) processesConduct regular performance analyses of facility mechanical and electrical systemsMechanical Engineering Applications:Apply mechanical engineering principles to improve data center efficiency and reliabilityDesign and implement cooling solutionsoptimizedfor high-density server environmentsAnalyze and enhance airflow management strategiesDevelop and execute comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules for all critical infrastructureLead root cause analysis for any system failures or inefficienciesImplement corrective actions and system upgrades based on engineering assessmentsPropose and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)Evaluate and integrate green technologies suitable for data center operationsEnsure adherence to industry standards (e.g. ASHRAE ISO) and local regulationsOversee safety protocols and conduct regular safety auditsMaintain up-to-date knowledge of data center best practices and emerging technologiesMentor and guide a team of facility technicians and engineersManage complex data center infrastructure projects including expansions and upgradesCollaborate with equipment vendors and service providers to ensureoptimalsystem performanceCommunicate effectively with executive management on infrastructure status and improvement plansPhysical work requirements and work conditionsLifting upto 80 lbs.Working from heights.Frequently climbing bending lifting kneeling stooping and working/extending overhead.Working in adverse conditions (i.e. extreme cold extreme hot).Driving forlong periodsof time.Climbing a ladder with a 300lbweight limit while carrying a tool bag weighing approximately 20 lbs.Climbing a ladder up to 30 feet.Must be available for Call-in work and perform other duties as.Required Qualifications:4 years of technical experience in building engineering with a strong background in HVAC plumbing electrical and production equipment repair and maintenanceExperience working in Data Centers/Raised Floor EnvironmentStrong customer service and interpersonal skillsUniversal EPA 608 CertificationCRAC (Liebert) maintenance and repair experienceLicenses as required by authority havingjurisdictionWorking knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel2 years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in relevant craft skillsPreferred Qualifications:Expertisein one specific craft area (Electrical HVAC Piping/Plumbing Central Utility Plant Operations Material Handling Equipment)Familiarity with building automation systems and fire/life safetyLocation:On-site Spartanburg SCIf this job description resonates with you we encourage you to apply even if you dont meet all the requirements.
