The Assistant Controller Accounting role supports gross-to-net accounting for US CMG & Salty and Mexico, with a focus on revenue recognition, trade promotions, customer waste and allowances, and maintaining a strong internal control environment. This role offers the opportunity to partner across Commercial Accounting, Sales, and Customer Finance while helping ensure financial results accurately reflect customer trends and business activity. In this role, you'll help support a significant commercial accounting scope, including gross-to-net activity, AR/deductions, commercial variance explanations, and backup support for Mexico-related analysis. You'll also contribute to process consistency and continuous improvement across the commercial accounting platform, including support for the S/4 global template solution.
Accountabilities include performing monthly close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations for designated business unit income statement and balance sheet accounts. Support month-end variance explanations for management and partner with Sales/Customer Finance to maintain awareness of customer trends. Assist in developing, maintaining, and communicating financial and internal control policies and procedures. Audit trade promotion payments to support validity, accuracy, and retail execution. Provide guidance to commercial business unit finance teams related to trade spend, management reporting, and analytics. Help drive continuous process improvement, including a continuous-close mindset and consistent processes across Revenue, Trade, and CWA areas.
Minimum education and requirements include 3+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience. Prior experience with a global public company preferred. CPA or equivalent preferred. Strong accounting, control, and finance abilities with process discipline, continuous improvement mindset, leadership, and peer influence. Education: BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.
