Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our non-profit organization in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will oversee crucial financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting processes and demonstrate a commitment to supporting the organization's mission.Responsibilities:• Prepare and review financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.• Manage journal entries and reconcile accounts to maintain up-to-date financial records.• Oversee the budgeting process, including preparing and monitoring budgets.• Compile and submit Form 990 to meet tax reporting requirements.• Conduct month-end close procedures and ensure timely reporting.• Collaborate with external auditors during financial statement audits.• Analyze financial data and provide insights to support organizational decision-making.• Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded.• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and relevant regulations.• Assist in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.• Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger management.• Proficiency in preparing Form 990 and understanding of tax regulations.• Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures and account reconciliations.• Familiarity with financial audits and compliance standards.• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.• Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.• Non-profit experience preferred but not required.
