POSITION TITLE:Assistant Director of AthleticsEXEMPTION STATUS:ExemptREPORTS TO:Executive Director of AthleticsTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:12 months 2025-2026 school yearPrimary PurposeAssist in managing the overall program of extracurricular and intramural athletics for the district. Work to provide each student with opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity and ensure compliance with all state University Interscholastic League (UIL) and local requirements.QualificationsEducation/CertificationMasters degree from an accredited college or university preferredValid Texas teaching certificate with physical education endorsementSpecial Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of overall operations of an athletic programKnowledge of state and University Interscholastic League (UIL) policies governing athleticsAbility to interpret and implement policies and proceduresAbility to manage budget and personnel and coordinate district functionStrong communication (verbal and written) public relations and interpersonal skillsExperienceFive years successful teaching and coaching experienceMajor Responsibilities and DutiesInstructional and Program ManagementAssist in coordinating and managing district athletic program and facilities.Assist in establishing physical and academic eligibility requirements for participation in each sport and verify each athletes eligibility status.Assist in maintaining an active program that promotes good sportsmanship and student development.Help obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to gauge athletic program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responsive to student needs.Plan necessary time resources and materials to support accomplishment of the department goals.Athletic EventsAttend and supervise at middle and high school athletic events.Assist in the preparation and approval of all interscholastic game schedules.Assist in securing transportation lodging and meals for out of town athletic events.Assist in managing the districts athletic operations by directing ticket sales employing game officials and ensuring preparation of facilitiesAid in the oversight process of cleaning repairing and storing all athletic equipment.Assist in coordination of the use of all athletic facilities by non-school groups.Assist to plan organize and supervise all athletic awards programs.Student ManagementAssist in implementing district student management policies communicate expected student behavior related to athletics and ensure enforcement of student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Assist to establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences on vital issues with parents students and teachers.Policy Reports and LawAssist in implementing the policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education and UIL rules and local policies in the area of athletics.Help compile maintain file and present all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required in a timely manner.Communication and Community RelationsEffectively communicate with colleagues students and parents.Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors and principals.Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible.Articulate the districts mission and goals in the area of athletics to the community and solicit support.Demonstrate awareness of district and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.Support athletic booster club activitiesProfessional Growth & DevelopmentAssist in the development of professional growth programs for coaches.Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment.Maintain familiarity with district initiatives to better serve the needs of the studentsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesAssist in supervising and evaluating the performance of coaches support staff and department secretaries.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsTools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment computer peripherals electronic devicesPosture: Prolonged sitting and/or standing occasional kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting reachingMotion: Frequent repetitive hand motions keyboarding use of mouse wrist flexion/extensionLifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance 30-55 pounds with assistance and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistanceEnvironment: Work is performed in an office setting along with frequent district wide and statewide travel; frequent irregular and/or prolonged hoursMental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress work with frequent interruptionsRequired Experience:Director Key Skills Crisis Management,Marketing,Public Relations,Fundraising,Media Relations,Constant Contact,Strategic Planning,Social Media Management,Team Management,Public Speaking,Wordpress,Writing Skills Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
