JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
Assisting DON in all aspects of resident care, nursing services, and directing personnel within the facility.
Essential Functions
· Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
· Provide basic nursing care to patients within Vivo Healthcare Harbourwood’s scope of practice that includes actions that meet psychosocial needs and physical needs.
· Serve as a direct line supervisor for staff and act as DON in absence of the Director.
· Conduct routine rounds of facility to monitor residents progress.
· Review, monitor, intervene and report complaints/grievances made by residents, families, etc.
· Perform emergency procedures such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and report accidents or incidents in a timely manner.
· Review and revise nursing care plans on a regular basis within the guidelines of federal, state and facility regulations/policy.
· Initiates the development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services and other services under his or her position control.
· Responsible for verifying employee credentials under his or her position control.
· Responsible for staff performance, recruitment, retention, and development.
· Investigate and report employee incidents according to company policy and coordinate return to work programs with Human Resources.
· Designs, plans, and provides educational programs on all shifts and for all departments.
· Participates in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of employee performance.
· Provides general facility orientation to all new employees and ongoing in-service education.
· Plans and provides a monthly and annual schedule of planned education programs.
· Ensures Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)/State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA) meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
· Actively participates in quality assurance and reports concerns to supervisor.
· Collaborate with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development.
· Participates in appropriate meetings and committees.
· Prepare reports or recommendations for the Administrator regarding the operation of the Nursing Department.
· Audit documentation for errors or inconsistencies; correct or document as necessary.
· Inventory, identify and monitor the storage of equipment, supplies, etc.
Non-Essential Functions
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Professional Requirements
· Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
· Complete annual education requirements.
· Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
· Report to work on time and as scheduled.
· Wear identification while on duty.
· Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.
· Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
· Comply with all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business practices.
· Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the organization.
· Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
· Attend regular staff meetings and in-services.
Qualifications
· Diploma in Nursing at a minimum; Bachelor's degree preferred.
· Current state license as a Registered Nurse.
· Two years of relevant RN experience required.
· Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
· Must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
· Working irregular hours including call hours.
· Physically demanding, high-stress environment.
· Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions.
· Pushing and pulling heavy objects.
· Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients.
· Position requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.
· Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.
