Student Accessibility Services:Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works with 4000 students with disabilities every year to facilitate equal access and reasonable accommodations. SAS works closely with faculty Housing and other departments to ensure disabled students experience equal opportunity to the campus experience. SAS also explores ways in which the UCF experience can be proactively designed with disability access and inclusion considered from the outset so as to minimize the need for reactive accommodations. Overall SAS accessibility work spans most areas of campus with opportunities for various engagement and the ability to make a campus impact.The Opportunity:UCF Student Accessibility Services (SAS) seeks applicants for an Assistant Director Student Accessibility Services. This position provides leadership in the coordination of the accessible technology experience for the campus community and people with disabilities including students with visual disabilities. The Assistant Director oversees accessible technology and accessible material purchases and coordination for Student Accessibility Services while also supporting the incorporation of web and other digital accessibility needs for the campus community. This position includes accessible technology responsibilities along with general access and accommodation work as part of the Student Accessibility Services teams reasonable accommodation analysis process.Classification Title: Assistant Director Accessibility ServicesResponsibilities:Meets with students to assess reasonable accommodation requests reviews documentation as necessary and collaborates with the SAS team to determine reasonable accommodations within a structured review process.Maintains all assistive technology at the SAS testing center and collaborates with department colleges and regional campuses to implement assistive technology where needed throughout the campus. Assists students and staff with adaptive technology accommodations and services (JAWS screen readers Braille printer & displays voice recognition software etc.) to provide a smooth transition of adaptive technology into the educational environment.Collaborates with faculty to ensure that reasonable accommodations are facilitated within the academic environment.Leads a team of graduate assistants OPS staff and/or student employees in the production of alternative media for students who utilize this accommodation.Negotiates contracts and service agreements with vendors and other technology service providers for SAS in order to secure the greatest access for the best rates.Contributes to the advancement of the accessible technology field at the state and national level through active participation in committees and other collaborative activities. Maintains an understanding of best and evolving practices in the field through professional development disability community listserv and discussion boards and collaboration with colleagues at other institutions.Supports SAS in other areas such as through relevant campus committees non-academic accommodation matters etc.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors and 4 years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 2 years of relevant experience with at least 1 year(s) of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).Preferred Qualifications:We welcome candidates with any of the following experience:5 years working with individuals with disabilities in higher education nonprofit or related industries.2 years demonstrated experience implementing and supporting assistive technology solutions.Experience in disability access and accommodation in higher education.Familiarity with tools such as Kurzweil JAWS Genio and/or other screen readers or adaptive software.Experience with or aptitude for managing vendor relationships and contract negotiations for accessibility services.Experience leading projects or small teams in accessibility or technology initiatives.Strong interpersonal skills for working with students faculty and campus partners.Additional Application Materials Required:Please include your most up-to-date resume as well as a cover letter with a statement of interest.Special Instructions to the Applicants:The anticipated salary range for this position is $48722-$57000.
