The Agency Contact listed above will be able to provide specific benefits information for this position.What Youll Do:Under general direction of the Fire Chief assists in the development and implementation of the fire protection program and supervises assigned workforce shift (e.g. firefighters and Station Captains)Coordinates training plans conducts and monitors training of the workforce to ensure compliance with established regulations and policiesAssigns tasks and duties to the workforce to ensure efficient daily operations of fire station and equipmentMaintains files reports and recordsDevelops work standards and writes performance appraisalsAttends meetings and seminarsCoordinates work schedules approves leave time maintains daily time and attendance reportsHandles grievances and issues recommends disciplineParticipates in interviews for new hires and promotions coordinates with the State Human Resources Office on personnel mattersIn the absence of the Fire Chief and Assistant Chief of Training/Deputy Fire Chief performs administrative duties of the Fire Chief directs fire team alerts and directs support agencies in rescue and fire suppression operations at scene of aircraft crash structural fires and/or other hazardous operations ensuring compliance with all applicable Air Force Air National Guard State of Ohio and National Fire Protection Association regulations and all fire department standard operating procedures; supports activities and performs the functions of incident commanderResponds to all types of emergency situations (e.g. fires fuel spills aircraft emergencies structural fires medical and other related emergencies)Suppression of all types of fires covering a wide spectrum of hazards (e.g. electrical fuel explosives and ammunitions hazardous materials response toxic chemicals or fumes and aircraft arresting systems) and exercises caution to avoid loss of life unnecessary property damage and injury to self and/or other persons protect all evidence indicating probable cause of fire or accidentPerforms all tasks required by standard tactical procedures during suppression ventilation rapid re-supply rescue and overhaulWears issued protective clothing and safety equipment in accordance with National Fire Protection Association 1500 standards (Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program) while on duty and participating in fire extinguishment and other hazardous situationsParticipates in the Respiratory Protection ProgramDrives and/or operates all assigned fire department apparatus and tools/equipmentCommunicates routine and emergency information over a variety of communication devicesInteracts with air traffic controllers emergency responders and local authorities in accordance with emergency action plans and the incident command systemAnd more!!!!Additional Information:Travel is required as needed.
