JOB DESCRIPTION

Assistant Quality Manager

This role involves overseeing quality control operations, including manufacturing instructions, process audits, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The position requires the ability to manage quality systems, perform corrective actions, and maintain documentation for quality processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage a U.S. PPAP process/package
  • Develop and implement quality control plans/systems from scratch
  • Responsible for inspections according to the quality management system/control plans
  • Take corrective action if the customer's agreed quality aims can't be met
  • Execute product audits, internal system audits, and process audits
  • Decisions regarding the inspection status according to the quality management system
  • Responsible for data administration and archiving of quality documents, samples, and measurement instruments
  • Report quality data for the Quality department (Excel charts/PowerPoint)
  • Determine preventive measurements to assure quality with production, management, and project teams
  • Assist with IATF-16949 audits
  • Work on cross-functional team through a PFMEA review and create/finalize the PFMEA
  • Perform/initiate capability studies and interpret the results
  • Fill-out PSW/AAR forms
  • Interface with CMM operators on how to measure the components and assemblies and fill out the proper dimensional PPAP forms
  • Understand the customer requirements for testing and ability to interpret and fill out the proper PPAP forms
  • Initiate GR&R/MSA studies and able to interpret the results
  • Understand plastic processes and able to create work instructions and possibly process flow diagrams
  • Interface with customers' Quality Engineers with questions/issues and get resolution
  • Able to read customer drawings and interpret them
  • Understand GD&T and be able to interpret CMM reports
  • Understand part functions and the ability to create GD&T schemes based on those understandings and interface those ideas with the customer
  • Understanding of gages and able to use the created GD&T schemes to build them
  • Interface with the customer to get gage concepts and designs approved
  • Interface with gage builders to create gages and follow up on them through build and completion
  • Ability to review parts and make determinations if they are acceptable by meeting the quality standards created
  • Visit customers for color and harmony meetings
  • Able to read colorimeter results
  • Analyzing quality control to detect production problems
  • Maintain current knowledge of the quality control field, relying on current literature pertaining to materials use, technological advances, and statistical studies

Technical Skills:

  • Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Broad knowledge of quality systems including IATF-16949, ISO and QMS; Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, TPS
  • Complete understanding of the MS Office Suite including MS Project
  • Good problem solving skills

Work Experience:

  • Must have at least 5 years experience working in a manufacturing environment at a level of Quality Engineer or higher
  • Past working experience with seating is a plus
