DescriptionHelp us reduce health disparities and grow our team! The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a full-time clinical track faculty psychologist in Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health to provide clinical services and education in the interprofessional UVA Health Children’s Diabetes Prevention and Fitness Clinic. Responsibilities include:Providing culturally responsive and evidence based psychological evaluation and treatment for youth at high risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes, many of whom have obesity and related health complicationsProviding consultation to the interprofessional team including a nurse practitioner, registered dietician, physical therapist, and social workerTeaching pediatric endocrinology fellows, pediatric residents, and medical studentsContributing to scholarship regarding pediatric diabetes prevention and weight managementParticipation on departmental and health system committees and continuing education offerings Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health provides clinical service for the Department of Pediatrics and UVA Health Children’s Hospital. The Section currently is comprised of eight pediatric and child clinical psychologists and is rapidly expanding with expectations to nearly double in the next year. This presents us with a remarkable opportunity to expand our team. The psychologists work closely with pediatrician colleagues, fellows, nurse practitioners, nurses, and multi-disciplined allied health staff. Our pediatric psychologists and endocrinology colleagues have outstanding working relationships with providers in the community as well as with other pediatric subspecialists and colleagues in other areas of the UVA Health System.UVA Children’s Hospital has been recognized as Virginia’s #1 children’s hospital by U.S. News and World Report for five consecutive years and holds national rankings in nine subspecialties inlcuding Pediatric & Adolescent Behavioral Health. The University of Virginia Medical Center and Children's Hospital are located adjacent to the main university grounds of the University of Virginia. UVA Health Children’s serves youth and families from Charlottesville and extensive surrounding rural areas including many refugee and immigrant communities. The University of Virginia is annually ranked as one of the premier public institutions in the United States and is located in Charlottesville, a picturesque small but diverse, cosmopolitan city perennially ranked as one of the best places to live in the U.S. QualifiationsCandidates also must possess a PhD/PsyD or equivalent from an APA-accredited program, have completed an APA-accredited internship, be licensed or license-eligible in Virginia, demonstrate cultural humility, and be skilled in interprofessional practice in a complex, academic medical environment. The new faculty member will be expected to obtain board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology once eligible.
