Job DescriptionJoin the hospital trusted by Chicagos Southland Ingalls Memorial Hospital in this role as an Assistant Patient Care Manager in the Medical Surgical position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.Under the direction of the Unit Director/Manager the Assistant Patient Care Manager functions as the leader for a specific shift(s) and assumes responsibility for clinical practice which may include 24-hour accountability. The Assistant Patient Care Manager is responsible for supporting the coordination of care and communication to facilitate patient needs as well as providing direction to and counseling of unit staff.This position will also serve as a public relations representative for patients and their families. This position exhibits knowledge of follows and actively supports the philosophy mission and vision of Ingalls Memorial Hospital while demonstrating behavior consistent with the core values and standards of service of the organization.Essential Job FunctionsAdhere to all hospital policies procedures and standards of careObserve and adhere to all corporate compliance requirements and communicate issues as they arise to the appropriate party as identified in the Corporate Compliance PlanParticipate in budget preparation and assist in monitoring of financial performanceDemonstrate cost effectiveness in meeting unit and patient care needsDemonstrates a positive supportive attitude to physicians patients families and other personnel consistentlyDisplays patience and tact when dealing with patients families and other health professionalsCollaborate with physicians to clarify the patients plan of care as needed to support the patient and primary caregiverDemonstrate clinical expertise and practice in units specialty through active participation as well as verbal instructionProvide leadership and support staff in facilitating patient care coordinationAdhere to and participate in regulatory complianceAssures performance improvement data collection is completed in a timely mannerAssist unit leader in achieving unit goalsSuccessful completion of annual competenciesRound on patients and employees dailyInvestigate and resolve issues related to customers and communicate outcomes to unit leaderDemonstrate excellent communications with all stakeholdersFollow service standards through leadership by exampleParticipates and provides feedback in staff selection and hiringServes as a mentor and coach for staffResponsible for evaluation staff performance and provision of coaching feedback in a timely mannerServes as a liaison in facilitating staff RN and physician relationshipsEnsures daily assignments are completed and appropriateEnsures effective on-boarding and/or preceptorship of staffMaintain effective interpersonal interdisciplinary relationships that exude professional conductCommitment to professional growth and competenceWillingness to assume and participate in additional projects and assignmentsParticipation in leadership meetingsMaintain responsibility for attendance and punctualityRequired QualificationsGraduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is requiredMust hold a current RN Licensure State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation or valid temporary permit to practice nursing in the State of IllinoisActive BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)3-5 years of experience in RN specialty areaPreferred QualificationsPrior leadership experiencePosition DetailsJob Type/FTE: Full-time; 10-hour shiftsShift: DaysWork Location: OnsiteUnit/Department: Medical Surgical Department E/4CBA Code: Non-UnionWhy Join UsFor nearly a century Ingalls Memorial has pioneered sophisticated clinical care and developed the areas most convenient network of comprehensive outpatient centers all dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the community.
