General Summary of Position:The successful candidate will join the department and college faculty responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses engaging in curriculum development contributing to professional activities and participating in relevant departmental and university service including outreach. Teaching faculty play a crucial role in promoting the departments educational mission engaging students in experiential learning and fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community.The CEE department is growing and its Environmental Engineering program is rapidly expanding. The department offers two ABET-accredited bachelors degree programs (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering) along with M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The department currently has 14 full-time faculty members one visiting professor and two full-time staff members serving approximately 400 undergraduate and graduate students.UMass Lowell is a nationally recognized public research university that is experiencing rapid growth. Collaboration is central to our research environment: the NERVE Center advances robotics and humanrobot interaction; the Fabric Discovery Center connects advanced textiles to health and defense; the RaytheonUMass Lowell Research Institute (RURI) and Printed Electronics Research Collaborative (PERC) drive the development of next-generation electronics; and our campus-wide Core Research Facilities offer open access to more than 100 instruments and expert staff. At the core we are a university committed to student success and development.Minimum Qualifications (Required):A Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering or closely related discipline by the start of employment.Undergraduate and masters degrees in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering or related fields.The ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students and faculty.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.Preferred Qualifications:Record of successful teaching experience at the college level.Registration as a Professional Engineer having either successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam or having a relevant certification in the field of Environmental Engineering.Relevant Industrial Experience.Demonstrated competencies in advising undergraduate students participating in outreach activities and contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance the departments educational mission.Evidence of a strong commitment to internal and external service.Special Instructions to Applicants:This is a benefited Massachusetts Society of Professors/MTA/NEA union range of $75000 - $105000 based on Assistant Teaching Professor rank and qualifications.Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
