Assistant Professor Italian Studies at The University of Texas at Austin

The Department of French and Italian at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Italian Studies to begin Fall of academic year 2026-27. We seek a scholar specializing in Medieval Renaissance and/or Early Modern Studies. We especially seek candidates with a strong background and record of research in History Visual Culture Environmental Humanities Medical Humanities Mediterranean Studies and/or Cultural Studies as well as candidates able to collaborate across university departments and programs. Duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching research and service to the department college and university.Applicants must have completed all the requirements for the PhD by time of appointment or they must expect to obtain the PhD within a year of joining the faculty as Instructor. Native or near-native fluency in Italian is required. Preferred qualifications include a demonstrated record of excellence in research publication and teaching.
