Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will maintain an active research program and teach a 3/3 load across a range of modalities including sophomore African-American Literature surveys upper-division courses in African American Literature for majors and specialized graduate seminars. Faculty are expected to produce at least 2 peer-reviewed publications (or equivalent) every 3 years and participate in committee work and related service activities. We seek a faculty member committed to excellence in teaching scholarship and academic service.Minimum QualificationsThe Department of English at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in 20th- and/or 21st-century African-American Literature at the rank of Assistant Professor. A PhD in English African American Studies Africana Studies or a closely related field is required by the start of the appointment.
