Job Description

Assistant Professor of Psychology The Department of Psychology at Lamar University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Psychology, beginning Fall of 2026. The area of specialization is open; however, candidates with a sufficient background in Biological Psychology or Neuroscience to teach a Behavioral Neuroscience course at the undergraduate and graduate levels are preferred.   Responsibilities include: Teaching a variety of courses at the undergraduate level (e.g., General Psychology, Introduction to Statistics, Research Methods, Biological Basis of Behavior) and master’s level (e.g., Behavioral Neuroscience, Multivariate Data Analysis)Maintain an active program of research that attempts to include undergraduate and graduate studentsMentor undergraduate and graduate student researchServe on graduate student thesis committeesActively engage in service to the department, college, and university   Applicants are asked to submit the following materials: Cover LetterCVDescription of Teaching PhilosophyDescription of Current and Planned Research3 Letters of ReferenceThe department expects to begin reviewing applications by December 1, 2025; however, may do so earlier.
