The ideal candidate will possess a terminal degree (Ph.D.) with an emphasis in Aviation, Drone Technology or Aeronautical Engineering from a regionally accredited university, with a supplemental field in Aviation Management or Drone Technology. This is a 9-month tenure track position with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.Essential Duties Summary:Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Unmanned Aerial SystemsConduct research that is presentable at professional academic conferences and acceptable for publication in referred academic journalsActive participation in departmental, school and university committeesService to one’s profession and the surrounding communityAdvise and mentor studentsOther job-related duties as assigned% FTE:1.0Hiring Range:$69,808.00 - $90,750.00Education:Ph.D. in Aviation, Drone Technology or Aeronautical Engineering from a regionally accredited university at time of hire.Supplemental field in Unmanned Aerial Systems/UAV or Aeronautical Engineering.Required Licensing/Certification:FAA Part 107 License(required).Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of:Policies, procedures, and practicesProficiency in FAA Part 107 operationsCurrent software and applications in GIS and Data ProcessingSkill in:Detail orientedEffective customer serviceProblem-solving and decision-makingMultitasking and time managementBoth verbal and written communicationAbility to:Work with a diverse student population.Maintain involvement in appropriate professional organizations.Work Experience:Active research agenda as evidenced by at least one referred journal publication at time of hire preferred.Working/Environmental Conditions:Prolonged standing and/or walkingHandling medium weight objectsUsing or carrying equipmentUA EEO Statement:It is the policy of Texas Southern University to provide a work environment that is free from discrimination for all persons regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, individuals with disability, sexual orientation, or protected veteran status in its programs, activities, admissions or employment policies.
