Job Description

Position SummaryThis position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. The Assistant Project Manager will support the implementation of the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuarine Programs Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan ( CCMP ) 2025-2030. The Assistant Project Manager will independently perform background research related to a subset of the 31 actions outlined in the CCMP assist the project manager in managing focus teams and facilitating meetings and workshops and contribute to near-term implementation plan drafts for assigned actions. This position may require shared supervision of 1-2 part-time graduate student researchers conducting background research. The Assistant Project Managers duties and responsibilities will include: - Contacting and communicating with focus team members and arrange logistics for focus team workshops - Prepare focus team meeting and workshop content and facilitating focus team meetings and workshops - Conduct background research related to selected CCMP actions - Synthesize research to generate products to support focus team meetings workshop facilitation and agendas and near-term implementation plans - Produce maps literature reviews and summaries as needed for APNEP staff and focus teams - Additional duties as assigned The Assistant Project Manager will be supervised by Lindsay Dubbs Research Associate Professor at the UNC Institute for the Environment and Claire Johnson Postdoctoral Research Associate at the UNC Institute for the EnvironmentRequired Qualifications Competencies And Experience- Biological ecological environmental natural resource sciences or related experience - Able to convey information accurately during all phases of research; ability to ensure that information related to research is understood. - Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others to make sure information is understandable - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience- Course work in biological ecological environmental natural resource sciences or related discipline and experience that demonstrates possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. - Experience managing and running focus groups. - Knowledge of the ecosystems and ecology of the Albemarle-Pamlico Estuarine System as well as state and federal rules and regulations regarding their protection. - Demonstrated experience using GIS software (ArcGIS QGIS or similar) for geospatial analysis and map making using publicly available datasets. - Experience using interactive software and their facilitation tools to host focus team meetings and workshops (e.g. Mural).Work ScheduleMonday Friday 8:30 AM 5:00 PM; times may varyRequired Experience:Staff IC Key Skills Bluebeam,Construction Estimating,Construction Experience,ProCore,Microsoft Outlook,Prolog,Construction Management,Project Engineering,Project Management,Project Management Software,Microsoft Project,Budgeting Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
