Assistant Service Manager (Calibration) at Transcat
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title
Responsible for assisting the Calibration Service Manager in the execution of his/her duties, and when delegated, represent the Manager in his/her absence. Meet corporate, divisional and lab goals, objectives and customer requirements through the effective management of the Calibration Laboratory staff and effective communication and teamwork with local laboratory sales and corporate support staff. Operate within generally accepted business and technical practices, and company policies and procedures. Safeguard company and customer assets, equipment, material and information. This individual must have excellent customer service skills, in person and by the phone.
Responsibilities
- Project Management
- Commercial and Government Contract Compliance
- Shipboard Calibration Management
- Quality Assurance and Safety Compliance
- Perform duties as on-site Facility Safety Officer (FSO)
- Model the Company's values to influence others to perform in an aligned manner
- Ensure training and development plans are in place and communicated to employees to drive performance improvement and career progression
- Complete and deliver accurate, thorough, and prescriptive employee performance reviews on the required timeline
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project
- Must have a proven track record of successfully managing complex ship Calibration projects, including shipboard Calibrations, within budget and schedule constraints
- Must have strong technical knowledge of ship Calibration processes, industry regulations, and safety standards
- Must have excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Must have strong communication skills both written and oral with the ability to act as a spokesperson
- Travel Requirements: Moderate Travel; 50% or less
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university, preferably in a technical field
- 7+ years' experience in calibration and calibration of instruments, preferably in progressively responsible positions or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8+ years of experience in shipyard operations, with a focus on commercial and/or government ship calibration projects
- Must have experience in dry docks and vessel inspections
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- CCT certification through ASQ, preferred
- Must be able to access Government facilities and be DBIDS eligible
- Position requires US Citizenship
