Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Title: Early Childhood Education Assistant TeacherProgram: Infant, Toddler, and Preschool ProgramsStart Date: ImmediatelyHours of Availability: Monday-Friday 1:00pm-5:00pmOverviewCultivate Mankato is looking for energetic and passionate part-time team members to support our early childhood teaching staff in the early morning and late afternoon hours of operation!Cultivate Mankato is a child development and resource center with two locations in Mankato, MN. Our infant through preschool program is located in vibrant downtown Mankato and our Infant Development Center is located within walking distance of the May Hospital.At Cultivate, we seek to create opportunities for children to engage with their community and create meaningful relationships that cultivate a sense of belonging. Cultivate Mankato provides opportunities for children to learn about the world through hands-on, reflective learning and healthy dialogue. RELATIONSHIPS. AUTHENTICITY. LOVE.Primary Objective/ScopeWhen you join our team of early educators as an Assistant Teacher, you will:1. Ensure safety and health of children and provide consistent, positive, nurturing environment to children in the classroom and the entire center;2. Assist the classroom teachers in developing and implementing program activities that meet each child’s social, emotional, educational and health needs by getting materials for activities ready, engaging deeply with children, and supporting anyway needed in the classroom;3. Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts and corporate partners;4. Actively assist classroom teachers in preparing and implementing program activities and play opportunities appropriate for each child’s social, emotional, educational and health needs;5. Actively engage with and supervise children;6. Work alongside the classroom teachers in completing daily records for each child enrolled;7. Ensure that daily opening and closing duties are completed as assigned;8. Ensure the Child Care Program Plan is being implemented at all times;9. Communicate with parents on a daily basis to discuss the development of their enrolled children and to better understand how to better serve the needs of families.10. Attend professional and personal development trainings including First Aid/CPR.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalencyANDEducation: 12 applicable quarter creditsANDClassroom Experience: At least 2,080 hours as an aide or student internORTwo years full-time postsecondary education from a college or universityANDClassroom Experience: 1,040 hours as an aide or student internANDEducation: nine quarter creditsAbility to follow the lead of the classroom teachers and provide support where needed;Ability to take instruction and implement instruction;Ability to build relationships with families and coworkers;Ability to co-create a dynamic environment where play and learning happens;CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain;Ability to pass a background check;English language proficiency.Preferred QualificationsAssociate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The employee must:1. Be physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency.2. Be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds safely.3. Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.4. Be able to assume postures in lower levels to allow physical contact with children.5. See and hear well enough to keep children safe.6. Engage in physical activity with children.Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:This is a flexible position with part-time and full-time shifts available that can be tailored around your personal schedule during our hours of operation. Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
