ResponsibilitiesThe school seeks candidates who can teach environmental science and studies lecture and laboratory courses at the introductory level and upper-level lecture and laboratory courses in the areas of conservation biology and field ecology. This is primarily a teaching position (80% teaching; 20% service) teaching the equivalent of 12 credits per semester. Potential courses include: Conservation and Preservation; Field Methods in Conservation Introduction to Environmental Issues Wetland Ecology and Conservation ( lab) Ecological Monitoring ( lab) Plant Systematics with Conservation Applications (lab) Case Studies in Preserving Biodiversity and Protected Areas and Environmental Pollution: Ecosystems Wildlife & Human Health although the successful candidate will certainly be encouraged to develop courses within their expertise. The successful candidate will also participate in curriculum development academic advising recruiting course and program assessment and service to the school college and university.QualificationsA Ph.D. in conservation biology biology environmental science ecology or a related field is required. Post-doctoral training is preferred. The successful candidate must have a well-rounded knowledge of field ecology. Candidates who use techniques that would further our students general preparedness for their future careers and who have done fieldwork in regional ecosystems will be strongly considered.
