The University of Akron one of Ohios leading public institutions of higher learning is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach in the new Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Program. This is a full-time 9-month non-tenure track position. The program is conducted in-person at The University of Akron Wayne College Campus in Orrville Ohio. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeaching in the associate of applied science in nursing program including didactic lab and clinical courses. The focus of the position will be Medical-Surgical Nursing Health Assessment and Pharmacology. The individual in this position is not responsible for completing research.Evaluating student performance.Assist in managing clinical placements including expanding clinical sites.Serve on program school college and university-wide committees as assigned.Maintain a program of personal professional growth through activities such as engaging in scholarly activity university and community service and other pursuits commensurate with faculty rank and status.Supporting University College and School of Nursing goals to assure compliance with accreditation and/or licensure.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSTo be considered the applicant must meet the following criteria:Masters in Nursing or closely related discipline required.An unrestricted registered nurse licensure in the State of Ohio or current multi-state license.Must have a minimum of two years of experience working as a Registered Nurse.Current medical surgical pharmacology or assessment clinical competency knowledge and skills.Current BLS certificationProficiency in interpersonal communication and organizational skills (verbal written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students faculty professional staff administration clinical affiliates and the community.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS2 years of teaching experience.Knowledge and skill of maneuvering computer software (Brightspace Microsoft Word Excel & PowerPoint and other related educational platforms).Recent clinical nursing experience or teaching experience.Skills in goal setting and team building.Analytical and organizational skills to plan implement and evaluate course and program activities.Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement RequirementsAdditional Position Information:Application InstructionsTo apply for this position you must complete the online application and attach a current curriculum vitae or resume transcripts a cover letter that addresses how your strengths and experience match the duties of the position and a list of three professional references to your profile.
