Associate Attorney - Commercial Litigation / Foreclosure at Kluever Law Group, LLC
JOB DESCRIPTION
Kluever Law Group, a boutique Chicago firm, seeks a full-time litigation attorney with 2-5 years of commercial litigation and/or creditors' rights experience to join our growing team. This role involves managing a high-volume caseload of complex litigation matters and providing legal representation to clients, with a focus on foreclosure, title, and real estate litigation, and a working knowledge of bankruptcy and compliance.
This role is primarily remote, with monthly in-office meetings (subject to change as courts resume in-person hearings). - Salary range is $110,000 - $175,000 and is based on experience
Responsibilities:
- Represent various types of clients, including individuals and corporations, secured creditors, financial institutions, and mortgage servicers through all stages of the litigation process.
- Manage and oversee assigned paralegal support, including workflow coordination and professional development, as applicable.
- Conduct legal research and analysis of applicable statutes, case law, regulatory requirements, and servicing guidelines.
- Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Appear in court on behalf of clients and communicate effectively with opposing counsel.
- Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with clients, vendors, and colleagues using the firm's case management systems, phone, and email.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active admission to the Illinois Bar with no disciplinary history in any jurisdiction.
- Admission to the Wisconsin Bar is a plus.
- Knowledge of Illinois Mortgage Foreclosure Law, the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure, Supreme Court Rules, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
- Knowledge of Bankruptcy Law and compliance is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial litigation experience
- Prior experience as a practicing attorney in a supervised environment at a law firm or government agency required; exceptional candidates who do not meet this requirement may be considered.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills with clients and colleagues, including the ability to de-escalate and resolve issues effectively.
- Ability to manage a high-volume litigation caseload, including proactive file and deadline management, daily court appearances, legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs, regular client communication, staff oversight, and developing creative, solution-oriented strategies.
- Process driven and detail oriented, with a strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
