Dorman Bell, LLP, a recognized business-focused law firm, is looking for a mid-level associate attorney. We primarily serve as outside general counsel to our many clients, so our practice is as varied as the legal issues that today's businesses face, including a multitude of business transactions, real estate, human resources, intellectual property, software audits, litigation, and more. This is a great opportunity for those in the legal field looking to broaden their experience and increase their knowledge of the industry.

Responsibilities

Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work with clients to determine the best course of action

Analyze and advise on business needs and draft, review, and/or revise a multitude of documents such as vendor contracts, employment contracts, service contracts, commercial leases, business agreements, and correspondence

Conduct legal research, prepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, and provide legal counsel with the help of senior attorneys

Analyze and process litigation inventory reports and litigation files, as assigned by attorneys, to ensure that proper litigation work flow is being performed pursuant to the firm and client expectations

Consult with start-up owners and provide guidance and advice on entity formation, ownership documents, and maintaining their business

Provide other general legal support and guidance

Communicate effectively and appropriately with team members, clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other outside parties

Comply with all client and firm standard operating procedures

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Two to five years of experience in a law firm

Texas State Bar license in good standing

Working knowledge of Texas and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure

Proficient in drafting motions and briefs, providing writing samples to demonstrate expertise in legal writing

Ability to handle conflicting time demands and focus on task completion with little direction or need for supervisory follow-up

Comfortable with legal research tools such as Lexis Nexus and other resources

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking skills, and legal writing
