Kluever Law Group is a boutique Chicago law firm and is currently seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Foreclosure Department on our Illinois team. Strong candidates have 2-5 years of Illinois Mortgage Foreclosure and/or creditors' rights experience to join our growing team. We are looking for energetic, independent thinkers that will be comfortable working within a case management system centric atmosphere. This role manages a high-volume caseload of default matters, providing legal representation in foreclosure, title, and real estate litigation, with working knowledge of bankruptcy and compliance.

The position is primarily remote, with a monthly in-office meeting (subject to change as courts resume in-person hearings and business demands). We're looking for independent, detail-oriented attorneys who thrive in a fast-paced, case-management-driven environment and are comfortable growing alongside an evolving firm. All Firm employees and hires are required to pass comprehensive background checks.

Schedule & Location:

  • Work hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm.
    • There is room for reasonable accommodation and flexibility.
  • Office location: 200 N. LaSalle St., Suite 1880, Chicago, IL 60601.
  • Work from home or the office

Benefits:

  • Compensation: $80,000 - $110,000 and is based on experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active admission to the Illinois Bar with no disciplinary history in any jurisdiction.
    • Admission to the Wisconsin Bar is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Illinois Mortgage Foreclosure Law, the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure, Supreme Court Rules, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
    • Knowledge of Wisconsin Mortgage Foreclosure Law & Bankruptcy law is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience as a practicing attorney in a supervised environment at a law firm or government agency required; exceptional candidates who do not meet this requirement may be considered.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with clients and colleagues, including the ability to de escalate and resolve issues effectively.
  • Ability to manage a high volume caseload involving proactive file and timeline management; daily/weekly court appearances; legal research; drafting pleadings/motions/briefs/regular client communications; staff oversight; and developing creative, solution oriented strategies.
  • Process driven and detail oriented, with a strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent various types of clients, including individuals, corporations, secured creditors, financial institutions, and mortgage servicers through all stages of the litigation process.
  • Manage and oversee assigned paralegal support, including workflow coordination and professional development, as applicable.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis of applicable statutes, case law, regulatory requirements, and servicing guidelines.
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Appear in court on behalf of clients and communicate effectively with opposing counsel.
  • Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with clients, vendors, and colleagues using the firm's case management systems, phone, and email.
  • Identify and escalate unusual or complex issues to supervising attorneys and clients.
