We are seeking a litigation attorney with experience in personal injury defense and insurance defense to join a dynamic civil litigation practice. This role offers the opportunity to handle a diverse caseload involving bodily injury claims, general liability matters, and insurance-related disputes. Experience in construction defect litigation is a plus but not required.
The ideal candidate is comfortable managing cases from initial investigation through resolution, developing strategic defense plans, and working closely with insurance carriers and insured clients. This position requires strong litigation skills, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate complex factual and coverage issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Defend insurance carriers and insured clients in personal injury and general liability matters.
Manage cases through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
Analyze insurance policies, contracts, and liability exposures.
Develop and execute strategic defense plans tailored to each matter.
Collaborate with claims professionals, experts, and co-counsel to evaluate risk and exposure.
Draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions.
Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution.
Maintain organized case files and proactively manage deadlines and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
Active bar license and good standing.
3+ years of experience in personal injury defense and/or insurance defense.
Strong understanding of liability analysis, damages evaluation, and coverage considerations.
Experience handling depositions and motion practice independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple active files in a deadline-driven environment.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Experience
Exposure to construction defect litigation.
Experience working directly with insurance carriers and adjusters.
Mediation and settlement negotiation experience.
Trial experience is a plus.
