Associate Corporate Counsel, Payments Legal at Amazon

This attorney will be responsible for counseling the Amazon Payments business teams on product and service launches negotiating complex transactions with financial service partners and advising on commercial regulatory and compliance related initiatives in the payments and financial services space.Lawyers at Amazon are trusted members of the business. Developing innovative solutions to novel legal questions is part of our daily business. The role covers a broad spectrum of legal issues including new program development in regulated areas product counseling and providing day-to-day advice strategic contract and partnership negotiations and resolving issues that arise in commercial relationships. A successful candidate will have a strong regulatory and transactional background and be hard-working proactive entrepreneurial and able to apply sound pragmatic judgment in ambiguous situations. Prior experience in payments credit/lending or financial services is a plus.Key job responsibilities- Advise the business on regulatory and compliance matters- Provide product development advice- Structure draft and negotiate commercial agreements related to domestic and international payment and credit/lending products- Provide ongoing legal counseling on a wide range of matters.- 2 years of legal experience- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent- Knowledge of the ethical considerations surrounding AI in the legal context such as confidentiality accuracy and bias prevention- Experience in private practice or in house experience at a technology company or equivalent- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work- Experience with financial services payments or e-commerce- Experience in transactional work including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts or equivalent- Experience in working directly with government officials and regulatory bodiesAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status disability or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. The base pay for this position ranges from $118400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
