We work together to drive ambition for every future!OverviewContributes to the overall success of the Mortgage Capital Markets team in the United States ensuring specific individual goals plans initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the teams business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations internal policies and procedures.What Youll Do:Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge.Prepares pitch books and marketing presentations in support of the mortgage financing and capital markets platform.Manages develops and trains junior members of the team.Assists in structuring negotiating terms and documentation with borrowers and other third parties culminating in the closing of transactions.Works on maintaining the existing portfolio by handling clients requests related to the warehouse facilities collateral and customer funding requests. Also draft annual risk reviews and works on internal credit underwriting approvals. Work closely with credit officers to coordinate the requisite reviews by risk management. Work closely with trading team to ensure daily marking of positions and requisite margin call monitoring.Conducts due diligence meetings.Reviews daily collateral reports and monitors asset performance trends.Coordinates a variety of activities with the mid-office and operations teams including the closing of new and existing transactions daily draw requests tracking and monitoring of collateral and providing them with updates or changes to the terms or funding of deals as required.Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk regulatory compliance risk AML/ATF risk and conduct risk including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.Be an active ally and advocate for Diversity Equity and Inclusion. Strengthen a culture centered around inclusion and creating a sense of belonging for all employees.What Youll BringDemonstrates sound knowledge of mortgage financing fundamentals with experience in agency mortgage warehouse lending preferredDegree in Business or related field. MBA/CPA/CFA or other industry designation is helpful6 years banking experience in a Corporate/Commercial lending or related environmentPrior 3 years experience in mortgage capital markets / mortgage warehouse financing strongly preferredRequires computer (Word Excel PowerPoint) proficiencies as well as excellent written and oral communication skillsExperience in credit analysis and familiarity with legal document review requiredA high level of commitment and a strong sense of teamwork are needed to succeed in the roleRoll-up sleeve attitude to support the team and internal stakeholders in a new business build and help where neededAbility to prioritize make timely and sound judgments and succinctly communicate with senior managementSeries SIE 63 & 79 to be obtained in due courseInterestedAt Scotiabank every employee is empowered to reach their fullest potential respected for who they are and embraced for their differences.
