About the RoleThe Associate Director of AI Governance is an integral part of Lathams Information Governance team and will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the firms AI governance framework ensuring compliance with evolving legal and ethical standards including AI safety and the responsible use of AI while overseeing the design implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive AI governance framework that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. This role will be located in either our New York or Downtown Los Angeles office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.Responsibilities & QualificationsOther key responsibilities include:Establishing and maintaining policies guidelines and documentation for the responsible development and deployment of AI tools ensuring compliance with legal ethical and regulatory frameworksCollaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate AI governance into existing compliance and risk management processes and to ensure AI practices comply with legal ethical and regulatory frameworksReviewing and responding to AI-related provisions in engagement terms and outside counsel guidelines from clientsProviding expert advice and guidance to internal teams and clients on AI governance and compliance mattersEngaging with firm clients as necessary to answer questions related to the responsible use of Generative AI and the firms AI governance frameworkProtecting and maintaining any highly sensitive confidential privileged financial and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retainsWed love to hear from you if you:Demonstrate highly developed and professional interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firmDisplay a strong understanding and experience with emerging technologies including generative artificial intelligence machine learning natural language processing and their practical applications in a legal or corporate environmentPossess a comprehensive knowledge of relevant AI and privacy legislation including the EU AI Act and GDPRAnd have:A law degree from an accredited law schoolAdmission to at least one U.S. State BarA minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional services or industry experienceBenefits & Additional InformationSuccessful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment but will also be provided with a generous total compensation package with bonuses awarded in recognition of both individual and firm performance.
