Associate PlannerPosting SummaryOversee land use regulatory processes and related permitting components of all major projects, including new construction and major renovations. Monitor and advocate for the University in the regulatory arena, locally, state, and regionally. The Associate Planner is a key player in the long range land use master planning for the institution including involvement in updating of the Campus Plan and assessing project compliance with master planning principles and premises. Represent the University related to stormwater projects and impacts to ensure compliance with all federal, State and local municipality regulatory requirements.Utilize political proficiencies and negotiating tactics thorough understanding of municipal and state land use, stormwater regulations, and landscape design principles. Apply expertise in landscape design to integrate sustainable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces that align with campus planning objectives. Act as primary contact with local, state and regional planning agencies related to land use issues. Report to the Associate Director of Planning; collaborate with the second Associate Planner in the department.Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)Bachelor's degree in land use, urban planning, landscape architecture, ecological design, engineering or related field. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) planning certificate or eligibility to take the certification exam required.Five or more years' experience in of land use and/or urban planning, engineering, landscape architecture, ecological design, or related fields, including regulatory processes required. Demonstrated knowledge of landscape architecture principles, ecological design practices, and sustainable development strategies. Familiarity with the local planning community including the State of Vermont's Act 250 land use criterion, local municipalities' regulatory processes, and stormwater regulations required.
