Position SummaryThe Office of the Registrar is an Oregon State University mission-critical unit. We safeguard institutional integrity while helping meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff. We play a critical role in serving the needs of students throughout the student lifecycle, from admission through degree completion and beyond; provide faculty and staff with timely and accurate expertise, resources, and systems solutions; and co-create, shepherd, implement, interpret, and uphold academic policies and regulations, accreditation standards, and laws. The office serves as an institutional partner, providing a clear path for student success, and we value expertise, innovation, inclusion, and collaboration. We provide enrollment and instructional services, maintain academic history, and offer support services to students, staff, and faculty. The Office of the Registrar provides a welcoming and inclusive work environment, in which everyone is treated with dignity and respect and is valued for their contribution to student success at Oregon State University.The Associate Registrar for Compliance serves as a key leader within the Office of the Registrar, overseeing compliance-related functions and ensuring adherence to university, state, and federal regulations. This position manages compliance units including Degree Completion, Veterans and Military Certification, NCAA Eligibility Certification, and Course Articulation, and acts as the primary resource for student privacy, FERPA compliance, and record retention. Other responsibilities include knowledge of, and compliance with, regulations for the retention, storage, and access to education records; enforcement of applicable university, state, and federal regulations and laws; and assistance with implementation of new technology and services designed to improve processes and service to students, staff, and faculty.Additionally, this position may serve on university committees such as the Academic Standing Committee, Academic Requirements Committee, or Commencement Committee. This position functions as a member of the Academic Operations Leadership Team. Success in this position includes the ability to pivot quickly within an ever-changing environment; and operating with ambiguity and flexibility are required. Collaboration and communication are important aspects of this position, which are pivotal to the functional and strategic success of the office.Key Responsibilities (see job posting for position description details)40% Oversight of Compliance Functions and Corresponding Units25% Leadership, Management, and Supervision20% Compliance with Legal Requirements10% Resource on Policies and Procedures5% Other Duties as AssignedMinimum/Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree.Four years administrative experience in registrar work, academic advising, compliance work or higher education experience in a closely related field.Two years supervisory experience.Ability to analyze complex issues and situations through many lenses, including an equity lens; identify alternative solutions; forecast consequences and disparate impacts across student populations; and recommend effective courses of action.Effective organizational skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate inclusively with diverse audiences including administrative management and academic constituencies.Strong experience in large scale information systems beyond end-user access.Ability to take action in the face of ambiguity and pivot as priorities change.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree.Involvement in professional organizations related to higher education.Banner or Workday SIS experience.Large office experience.
