Job SummaryAdministers all aspects of sports specific activity within the District and individual schools Athletic Department policy as well as within the guidelines of the Florida High SchoolAthletics Association and the National Federation High Schools.Essential FunctionsPercent of Job1. Announce and enforce rules pertaining to conditioning of players and the training rules affecting the health and safety of the players. Ascertain that the EL2 EL3 Insurance Verification Sportsmanship contract birth certificate and other forms are on file for all team members.10%2. Attend mandatory FHSAA rules clinics and Gateway Conference meetings. Continue to work on professional development by attending coaching clinics.10%3. Cooperate with the athletic director in establishing physical examinations and verify that no candidate is issued equipment allowed to practice or condition until the DCPS Athletic Health Examination Form is completed in full and signed by the athlete parent/guardian and physician.10%4. Conduct and supervise at least one fund raising activity for his or her sport.10%5. Ensure the team is supervised at all times. This includes locker room supervision and making sure athletes are picked up after practices and contests.10%6. Know and enforce the rules and regulations required by Title IX FHSAA and the Duval County School Board.10%7. Monitor academic progress of each team member on a weekly basis.10%8. Organizes practice and game responsibilities that are clear and understood by all involved; provides specific duties for coaching throughout the program: primary and extra-duty assignment.10%9. Report injuries of participants to the athletic trainer and/or Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program as well as complete a Student Accident Report Form. Following injuries of a serious nature the coach will secure the signed approval of the doctor and parents before the student is allowed to again participate in athletic activities (Return to Play form).10%10. Support and be an active participant in striving to improve the athletic program as well as the total educational program of the schools.10%11. Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or EquivalentExperience: Previous experience preferred as an athletic coach or in the coaching arenaCertifications & Licenses: Completion of required athletic coaching courses to include First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Concussion in Sports (NFHS courses) AED training Florida Department of Education Certificate (Athletic Coaching)Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)Knowledge of the sport and the strategies associated with the sportStrong oral written and interpersonal communication skillsStrong word processing spreadsheet and presentation software skillsStrong leadership skillsStrong creative problem solving skillsStrong time management skillsStrong organizational skillsAbility to conduct staff meetings and be in charge of all tryouts practices team meetings and athletic contests for the sport.Ability to be a role model for all student-athletes by conducting your behavior in a professional manner at all timesAbility to motivate student-athletes to produce their best effort and results Key Skills Events,IT Audit,Land Survey,Accountancy,Contract Employment Type : Part-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
