DescriptionJob Title: Bankruptcy / Financial Services AttorneyLocation: MarylandExperience Required: 5+ yearsJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Bankruptcy / Financial Services Attorney to join a dynamic legal team in Maryland. This attorney will handle a broad range of matters involving bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, loan enforcement, financial services litigation, and related regulatory issues. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant experience advising financial institutions, lenders, loan servicers, and other clients in complex bankruptcy and financial services matters.Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent clients in bankruptcy proceedings, including Chapter 7, 11, and 13 matters.Advise financial institutions, lenders, and servicers on creditors’ rights, insolvency, and restructuring matters.Manage litigation involving foreclosure, collections, loan enforcement, debtor-creditor disputes, and financial services regulations.Draft, review, and argue motions, pleadings, objections, and other court filings in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts.Provide legal counsel on compliance, risk management, and regulatory issues affecting financial services clients.Handle contested matters, adversary proceedings, and related appeals.Conduct legal research and develop case strategy for complex matters.Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver practical, business-focused legal solutions.Maintain strong client relationships and support business development initiatives as appropriate.QualificationsJ.D. from an accredited law school.Active Maryland bar admission required; additional bar admissions are a plus.5+ years of experience in bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, financial services litigation, or related practice areas.Strong knowledge of bankruptcy law, insolvency proceedings, and financial services regulations.Experience representing banks, lenders, servicers, or other financial institutions preferred.Excellent legal writing, research, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.Ability to manage multiple matters independently in a fast-paced environment.Strong analytical skills and sound business judgment.Portable business is a plus, depending on the role and firm structure.Preferred SkillsExperience with commercial bankruptcy and restructuring matters.Familiarity with consumer finance laws, foreclosure procedures, and loan servicing issues.Ability to advise clients on both litigation strategy and regulatory compliance.Strong interpersonal and client management skills.Requirements• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the Maryland Bar in good standing.• At least 5 years of litigation experience with a strong background in commercial or other complex business disputes.• Demonstrated ability to draft persuasive motions, briefs, pleadings, and discovery-related materials.• Experience handling matters involving business conflicts such as contract claims, partnership disputes, regulatory issues, or similar commercial controversies.• Proficiency with legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis, along with familiarity with e-filing and eDiscovery tools.• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to represent clients effectively in contested matters and negotiations.• Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.• Prior exposure to industries such as financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, or government entities is beneficial.Job typePerm
