The Automation Controls Engineer will join a growing team of IT Engineering and Health & Safety professionals helping our customers reduce their work-related risk to quality productivity and employee health.The Automation Controls Engineer will be working on projects in automotive manufacturing facilities to help implement EV Battery Manufacturing Systems. While this position will be based out of Metropolitan Detroit there will be travel to automotive manufacturing facilities throughout Metro Detroit and other facilities in the US and China.Responsibilities will IncludeDesign and Development:Analyze system requirements develop mathematical models and create control algorithms for automated machinery and equipment.Implementation and Programming:Program and configure PLCs SCADA systems HMIs and DCS to optimize performance and integrate new technologies.Testing and Optimization:Conduct testing simulations and validation to ensure system functionality reliability and efficiency with continuous performance monitoring and improvement.Maintenance and Troubleshooting:Maintain and upgrade existing control systems; diagnose and resolve issues plan preventative maintenance and enhance system longevity.Collaboration and Documentation:Work closely with design production electrical and software teams to define requirements and integrate control systems into larger processes. Maintain documentation for system designs configurations and modifications.Safety and Compliance:Ensure all control systems meet regulatory standards and safety requirements.Training and Support:Provide technical support and training to engineering staff and users on the operation and maintenance of control systems.Requirements2 or 4 year degree in engineering and/or technology with emphasis in industrial controls / machine programmingPlant floor experience as an Automation Controls Engineer working with Siemens PLCs and Mitsubishi PLCsPrior experience with Ford Motor Company systems and controls highly preferredPrior experience with EV battery manufacturing is helpfulFamiliarity with plant floor machine monitoring systemsStrong analytical thinking as well as problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsMust be based in Metropolitan Detroit area to work on-site Legally authorized to work in the United StatesAbility to be present on-site to complete daily tasks (Not a remote role)Ability to travel within the US (Tennessee) and Internationally (China) for 2-3 weeks at a time.Sandalwood is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Benefits Health Care Plan (Medical Dental & Vision) Retirement Plan (401k) Life Insurance (Basic Voluntary & AD&D) Paid Time Off (Vacation Sick & Holidays) Short Term & Long Term Disability Training & Development Key Skills Continuous Integration,APIs,Automotive software,Test Cases,Electrical Engineering,Junit,Distributed Control Systems,Testng,Java,Test Automation,Programmable Logic Controllers,Selenium Employment Type : Full-Time Department / Functional Area: Systems Integration Experience: years Vacancy: 1
