Automation Intern at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories

Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Create detailed physical and electrical designs.2. Provide low-level engineering support to engineers and other support personnel within division.3. Complete assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget to a high level of quality.4. Construct relay equipment racks for testing purposes on projects and assist with the testing.5. Support SELs software testing processthrough requirements validation.6. Follow engineering quality assurance procedures.7. Continuously identify measure and improve processes.8. Follow and apply SEL Values Principles of Operations and World Class Manufacturing Principles.9. Understand. Create. Simplify.10. Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsCurrent student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent with at least one year of technical coursework completedProgramming experience in C# C Java Python or equivalent OO programming languageAbility to execute and document defined testing proceduresStrong writing documentation and speaking skillsAbility to learn new skills and assume new responsibilitiesAbility to work cooperatively in a team environmentBackground check results satisfactory to SELNegative drug test result(s)Preferred QualificationsExperience using scripting languages such as Python JavaScript Perl RubyPractical knowledge of developing Microsoft Windows applicationsKnowledge of SQL and database conceptsKnowledge of MS Office suiteHouston TX- This position is located in Houston TX.
