In this role, you will empower students to reach their full academic potential and prepare them for success in college, career, and beyond. Through a focus on WICOR strategies: Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading, you will cultivate a rigorous yet supportive learning environment that builds student confidence and fosters a college-going culture.Core ResponsibilitiesDeliver AVID CurriculumImplement AVID’s research-based strategies to strengthen academic skills and promote college and career readiness.Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.Promote College & Career ExplorationMotivate students to enroll in honors, AP, or dual-credit courses.Build a Supportive Learning CommunityDevelop strong, trusting relationships with students.Provide consistent academic coaching and personal mentorship.Collaborate with Key StakeholdersWork closely with the department team, content teachers, families, and guidance to provide integrated student support.Contribute to interdisciplinary planning and department/team meetings.Engage in Ongoing Professional DevelopmentAttend AVID Summer Institutes, workshops, and site-based training.Continuously reflect on and improve instructional practice.Key Skills & QualificationsDeep understanding of AVID methodologies and a commitment to equitable, student-centered instructionStrong communication and relationship-building skills with students, families, and colleaguesExcellent organizational and time management abilities, with a focus on accountability and follow-throughGrowth mindset and belief in every student’s potential, especially first-generation college-goersAdaptability and teamwork, with a willingness to learn and collaborate in a dynamic school environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience teaching in an AVID program or familiarity with WICOR strategies.Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; teaching certification preferred.Prior experience working in diverse, high-needs school communities.Employment & Compliance NoticesEmployment at Northside Charter High School is at-will and may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without cause or notice.
