Department: Virginia Information Technology Agency Scope of Project The Azure Cloud Architect will advise the agency on cloud architecture technical strategy refactoring modernization and cloud-native adoption. The role includes identifying optimal lift-and-shift or refactor paths driving technical deployments establishing security practices and configuring Azure services. Architect will also develop minimal viable architectural prototypes and collaborate with COV/MSI stakeholders. The position requires NDA signing. Responsibilities: Advise agency on Azure architecture and security considerations for migrations and refactoring. Recommend lift-and-shift and on-prem to cloud-native transformation strategies. Identify and recommend refactoring approaches within the Azure ecosystem. Conduct Azure testing and PoC/MVP validation of proposed architectures. Understand operational offerings from COV MSI and connected partners. Configure Azure services to meet agency-level technical objectives. Produce professional technical documentation and architecture materials. Follow cloud security best practices and maintain posture requirements. Sign NDA upon onboarding.
