You will work on building scalable reliable backend services using modern technologies including GraphQL microservices architecture and event-driven systems that power our workplace solutions and enable seamless integration with our professional audiovisual devices.How youll contribute:Design and develop GraphQL APIs and backend services that support calendar synchronization and AV device management for our professional audiovisual solutionsBuild and maintain microservices using event-driven architecture with NATS pub/sub messaging to enable reliable communication between distributed system componentsImplement calendar integration services for Google Calendar Outlook and other platforms with robust webhook receivers and real-time synchronization capabilitiesDevelop job management systems for scheduling and executing asynchronous tasks that support our workplace technology solutionsImplement authorization systemsBuild event-driven systems using NATS for reliable inter-service communication and ensure services are designed for high availability and scalabilityImplement comprehensive monitoring using OpenTelemetry for metrics logging and distributed tracing with Grafana dashboards for performance monitoringYoull also support with:Contributing to system architecture discussions and technical design documents for our cloud platform evolutionOptimizing database queries and implementing caching strategies for high-performance data accessBuilding robust error handling and implementing resilience patterns for distributed service communicationCollaborating with frontend developers DevOps engineers and product teams to deliver integrated solutionsMentoring junior developers and contributing to team knowledge sharing and best practicesContributing to continuous improvement of our development workflow tooling and coding standardsOther duties as assignedA successful candidate should have:Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent experience3-7 years of backend development experience with distributed systems and microservices architectureMany years of experience with Go language including patterns and best practices for microservicesExperience with GraphQL API design implementation and optimizationExpertise with SQL with time-series data managementHands-on experience with NATS or similar pub/sub messaging systems (Apache Kafka RabbitMQ)Understanding of RBAC systems with fine-grained access control systemsExperience with Azure cloud services and containerized deploymentsFamiliarity with IAM systems like Zitadel Auth0 or similar OIDC providersStrong problem-solving skills and experience with complex integrationsExperience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflowsProven collaboration & communication skills in cross-disciplinary teamsUnderstanding of security best practices especially in authentication and authorization systemsSome nice-to-haves:Experience with calendar platform integrations and webhook managementKnowledge of TimescaleDB and time-series data optimizationFamiliarity with SpiceDB Zanzibar-style authorization systems or similar RBAC implementationsExperience with Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push notificationsKnowledge of SendGrid or similar email service providersExperience with Amplitude or similar user behavior analytics platformsUnderstanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems design patternsExperience with event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging patternsKnowledge of calendar APIs and webhook implementations (Google Calendar Microsoft Graph etc.)Familiarity with observability tools: OpenTelemetry Grafana and distributed tracingUnderstanding of time-series data patterns and optimization techniquesExperience with nginx for load balancing and reverse proxy configurationsPrevious experience in workplace management scheduling or AV systemsContributions to open-source projects especially in the observability or messaging spaceWork environment:This is an onsite position based in Beaverton ORModern office & lab facilities including anechoic & reverberant chambers hardware prototyping labs and dedicated listening roomsMinimal travel (< 5 %)What we offer:Medical Dental and Vision3 weeks annual PTO and 9 paid holidays401(k) matchingEmployer-paid base life insurance short and long-term disabilityHealth savings accounts (with Biamp contribution) and flexible spending accountsTuition reimbursementCharitable donation matchingDiscretionary company achievement bonusReferral bonusesWho is BiampWe make the worlds most extraordinary audio and video solutions.
