ResponsibilitiesPeraton is developing the next generation of mission planning and command-and-control software for space communications programs. Our team is responsible for creating modern resilient services and capabilities that will support the U.S. Governments critical space communications infrastructure for the next decade and beyond.As a SR Backend Software Engineer you will play a pivotal role in building a cutting-edge ground communications and data-transport platform for U.S. government satellites. You will design and develop core platform services that enable secure scalable and efficient satellite this role you will contribute as an individual developer while supporting technical decisions to ensure platform excellence.What youll do:Build multi-tenant services on public cloud platforms like AWSBuild architect and consume APIs and backend services as part of the platform ecosystem with an emphasis on automation testing and securityAdvocate for improvements to product quality security and performance that have a particular impact on your team and othersEngage with customers and partners to facilitate integration with our servicesSolve complex technical challenges relatedto scaling space communications infrastructureQualificationsRequired qualifications:12 years of software engineering experience and a Bachelors Degree. Four (4) additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.This position requires the candidate possess a minimum Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret.Experience in Python with hands-on experience building scalable backend services and APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI.Proven experience working with modern infrastructure and tools including PostgreSQL AWS Docker Kubernetes and Terraform to support cloud-native application development and deployment.Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of at least one major commercial cloud platform (e.g. AWS Azure GCP) including its native services for compute storage and security.Strong background in backend architecture and development with a focus on performance optimization security hardening and system reliability.Desired qualifications:Excellent communication skillsAbility to work with end-users to design and build solutions to their needsAbility to initiate self-directed learning of new technologies to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced environmentBenefits:At Peraton our benefits are designed to help keep you at your best beyond the work you do with us daily. Salary is determined by various factors including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position the individuals experience education knowledge skills and competencies as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
