From Lucie is a cozy East Village bakery inspired by our founder, Lucie’s childhood on a farm in the South of France. We are known for our seasonally inspired cakes, decorated with organic flowers, dried fruits, and house-made jams and curds, as well our delicious cookies and pastries.We are looking for a full-time Bakery Manager to lead our back of house team at the retail bakery. For the first phase, you will work alongside our current Bakery Manager, sharing responsibilities and learning our systems, standards, and style. As we open our new commissary kitchen and shift more production off-site, this role will grow into being the primary Bakery Manager at the East Village bakery.This is a hands-on role for someone who loves both beautiful cake work and calm, organized leadership in a busy kitchen.ResponsibilitiesLead and support the back of house team at the bakeryOversee bakers on shiftTrain new bakers in From Lucie’s aesthetic, structure, and standardsGive clear direction on busy days and during holidaysOwn daily finishing and bakery parsReview preorders and custom cakes and help build daily production and finishing plansSet and adjust pars for the bakery based on sales patterns and upcoming ordersKeep a close eye on special orders so everything is ready on timeManage inventory, ordering, and flowersTrack and order finishing ingredients, décor elements, and smallwares for the bakeryCoordinate weekly flower runs and manage flower usage for cakesWork to minimize waste while protecting quality and presentationPartner with the cafe and, later, the commissaryCommunicate with the cafe manager so front and back of house stay in sync throughout the dayOnce the commissary opens, work with the commissary manager on pars and deliveries so the right components arrive when neededMaintain standards and kitchen cultureEnsure DOH compliance, cleanliness, and organization in the kitchenHelp set and maintain systems that keep the bakery running smoothlyFoster a positive, respectful, and inclusive team cultureRequirementsProfessional experience baking and decorating cakes in a commercial bakery or pastry kitchen (required)Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a bakery, pastry, or production kitchenStrong communication and organization skills, with the ability to plan the day and give clear instructionsComfortable managing pars, reading order reports, and communicating needs to another kitchen or teamAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and work efficiently in a small, busy spaceAvailable to work weekends and holidays, including peak periods such as Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, and ChristmasProfessional references requiredTo ApplyPlease send your resume or CV, a bit about yourself, and a note about a cake or pastry project or role you are most proud of to >/span>.We encourage applicants to visit fromlucie.com and our Instagram (@fromlucienyc) to get a feel for our cakes, our style, and our little corner of the East Village before applying.
