Job Description
The SLO Beauty College, serving the central coast community for 25 years, is seeking a licensed Barber Instructor who has a positive attitude, is passionate about our industry, and is a strong communicator with excellent technical skills and a proven success in salons.
Job Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Punctuality and Attendance (an instructor must be an example for the students)
Prepare lesson plans according to State and Federal guidelines
Perform and instruct all practical procedures according to State and Federal guidelines
Monitor /record student progress in order to assure students understand the lessons
Monitor student attendance (attendance is a substantial portion of the student's grade)
Maintain current/accurate student records (attendance, exams, progress reports )
Stay informed of current industry standards and changes in fashion
Maintain a safe and organized lab
Attend quarterly faculty meetings
Achieve twelve (12) hours of continuing education annually, including a minimum of four (4) hours in teaching methodology
Assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records
Communicating frequently with students and colleagues
Working hands-on with students in a variety of courses and application
Is responsible to report all issues regarding school operations to the school manager. Such as: Work issues, Safety issues, Student attendance/behavior
Skills/Competencies Required:
Current California Cosmetology License
3 years full-time experience working as a Cosmetologist
Excellent organization, coaching, and communication skills
Skills in supervision, teamwork, documentation, and return on investment
Solid work history with verifiable references
Passion for the beauty and barbering industries
Honesty and professionalism
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 per week
Work Location: In person
