This individual must have a disposition for providing excellent customer service, work well with others as part of a team, and must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Rooney’s Brews is a coffee shop and café located in Roanoke College’s Fintel Library. The Barista will thrive if they possess strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. This position works August through May when Rooney’s Brews is open and closed when Fintel Library is closed.Key Responsibilities:Serve customers with enthusiasm in a positive and friendly mannerPrepare and serve beverages to operation specifications and standardsPrepare and serve food in a safe and sanitary mannerHandling payment transactions accurately using a variety of tenders, including: Cash, Credit, etc..Develop strong knowledge of menu items and be able to provide customers with product detailsComplete training programming as directed to ensure strong product knowledge.Maintain all equipment, cleaning as required for peak operating performanceDaily and weekly cleaning tasks as required in the café, seating areas and storeroomComplete daily inventory of menu items to assist in ordering productsWash dishes, equipment, and small wares as neededEducating customers on specialty coffee and engaging them for feedbackOpening and closing of café following operating proceduresEducation, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:Previous experience in coffee service is preferred, however previous food service or customer service experience is consideredAbility to meticulously maintain a clean and safe food service environmentAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentPositive communication with guests and co-workers is essentialRequired to obtain ServSafe certification within 6 months of hire.Weekend availability is required.
