Help us nurture their growth, learning, and fun before and after the school bell rings!Our Mission desires “to form a community of faith and learning by promoting a Catholic way of life through Gospel values and academic excellence.” We are seeking an individual who will exhibit the Core Values of Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools: Faith, Unity, Excellence and Integrity and create an environment of trust.Location/Schedule:Monday through Friday, 2:45p-6:00pHoly Spirit Elementary SchoolSt. Mary Elementary SchoolSt. Michael Elementary SchoolRESPONSIBILITIES:Promote the mission of Bishop O†Gorman Catholic SchoolsProvide and maintain a safe environment for childrenUnderstand and apply child development to situationsGuide children in a positive wayUse a positive and preventative approach to discipline: redirection, setting positive limits, clearly stating expectations, encouragement and praise. Provide choices, allowing children to problem solve, etc. Reserve the use of “time out” for when children need to regain control as opposed to a punishment.Effectively model ways of handling anger and frustration through reinforced positive behaviorMaintain and follow current lesson plans and goals, matching the lesson plan with the age, skill and developmental level of the children in the classroomProvide regular and varied outdoor/big room activities. Bring materials in these areas to create new play interests.Monitor and stay aware of what is going on in the activity areasSupervise and interact during activitiesComplete the required trainingMaintain privacy and confidentiality at all timesMaintain effective communication with parentsMaintain good rapport and promote teamwork with all the staffSanitize toys on a regular basisPerform various duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:Willingness and ability to effectively make known the Catholic Church’s teachings through the varied ministry activities expected of this positionWillingness and ability to act as an outstanding personal witness to the Catholic faith and religion by living both one’s professional and personal life in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as embodied in the various documents of the Roman Catholic Church, including, without limitation, the Catechism of the Roman Catholic ChurchExperience:Previous child care experience preferredSpecial Skills: Strong interpersonal skills beneficial.
