Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:NOW HIRING FOR THE 2025/2026 SCHOOL YEAR! Before and after school programming is located at off-site school locations throughout Thornapple Kellogg Schools. This position offers a $2/hour shift premium for staff who work both before school program hours and after school program hours in the same day.POSITION SUMMARY:Before and After School Program Teachers provide a reliable, safe, and fun environment for children to prepare for their school day and unwind from it. The Lead Teacher is responsible for the planning, developing, and implementation of classroom activities. Schedules vary, but require weekday availability, 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM and/or 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Plans and leads daily lesson plansOrganizes and participates in games and activitiesProvides weekly lesson plans to parentsProvides each participant’s parent with information on individual activities on a daily basisPrepares materials for daily activitiesMaintains records of attendance and arrival and departure timesMaintains supervision of childrenConducts parent-teacher conferences at least annuallyMaintains the quality and quantity of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroomPerforms any other functions deemed to be necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids AssociationCOMPENSATION$17.09 - $21.36 ; Non-Exempt, Part time (up to 25 hours/week)This position offers a $2/hour shift premium for staff who work both before school program hours and after school program hours in the same day. Six months to one year youth development related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
