Job DescriptionJob DescriptionReach for the Stars After School ProgramBehavior Support TechnicianJob Description: A Behavior Support Technician works as a team member with RFTS Site Staff and the Program Development Specialist to establish positive student contacts that develop appropriate and positive behavior modifications enabling students to succeed. A BST will assist instructional personnel by participating as team member in the development and monitoring of comprehensive behavioral objectives, goals and plans.Location: Within the (9) RFTS elementary sites in the Whittier City School DistrictRate: $23 per hour (no benefits)Work shift: 20 hours per week {M,W,Th,F 2:15 pm-6:00 pm/Tu 12:30 pm-5:30 pm}Optional Summer Hours (hours may vary) (Dependent on Grant Funding)Qualifications:AA/AS Degree from an accredited universityExperience working with children (ages 4-13) in a classroom/expanded day setting(6) months experience delivering Applied Behavior Analysis services Desirable:BA/BS or MA/MS in Psychology, Education, ABA or related fieldBilingual in Spanish/English Current CPR/First Aid CertificationResponsibilities/Duties:Focus on changing and redirecting the child’s behavior by observing and measuring their behavior*Gather behavioral data to track progress in reaching behavioral objectivesEvaluate and implement behavioral strategies designed to make positive and appropriate changes in small group settingAssist with conflict resolutions and crisesProvides values clarification including rules, expectations and consequencesCollaborate with Site Facilitator and relay pertinent informationMonitors physical and emotional changes in students and reports to appropriate personnelMaintain student confidentialityMaintain a professional rapport with program/site staff and all stakeholdersAttend trainings regarding safety, security, physical restraints and behavior management procedures, as assignedAttend and participate in program/site meetingsReinforce positive behaviors using PBIS strategiesModel and promote good communication, customer service and positive representation of the RFTS Program to students and all stakeholders*Ability to adhere to organizational policies and proceduresPHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Ability to see and hear for the purpose of observing and regulating student behavior• Stand and walk for long periods of time• Occasionally run for brief periods• Cope with stress and emergency situations• Frequently climb stairs• Occasionally exert 10 -20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or other wise move objects• Be able to bend, climb, kneel and balance to assist students as needed• Perceive the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, provide oral information, the manual dexterity to operate work related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects• Prolonged exposure to weather elements and noise
