This position is focused on delivering direct patient care, conducting clinical assessments, and assisting with crisis intervention to ensure the safety and well-being of patients. The technician will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized discharge plans and maintain accurate clinical documentation. Through effective crisis management and patient engagement, the Behavioral Health Technician helps promote recovery and stability for patients facing mental health challenges. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall therapeutic process by fostering a supportive environment that encourages positive behavioral change and emotional growth.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.Certification or training in behavioral health, mental health, or related clinical support services.Experience working with individuals with serious emotional disturbances (SED) or similar populations.Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and crisis intervention techniques.Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to healthcare regulations.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing, or a related health care field.Previous experience in a mental health or behavioral health clinical setting.Training in advanced crisis management and de-escalation strategies.Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical data management.Certification in CPR and First Aid.Responsibilities:Provide direct care and support to patients with mental health needs, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout their treatment.Conduct clinical assessments and assist in monitoring patient progress to inform treatment planning and interventions.Implement crisis intervention techniques promptly and effectively to de-escalate situations and maintain a safe environment.Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and discharge plans.Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and execute individualized discharge plans that support patient recovery and community reintegration.Skills:The Behavioral Health Technician utilizes clinical documentation skills daily to ensure all patient interactions and care activities are accurately recorded, supporting continuity of care and compliance with regulatory standards. Crisis management and intervention skills are essential for responding effectively to emergency situations, helping to stabilize patients and prevent harm. Clinical assessment abilities enable the technician to observe and report on patient behaviors and symptoms, contributing valuable information to the treatment team. Maintaining documentation and discharge plans requires attention to detail and organizational skills to facilitate smooth transitions for patients leaving care. Patient care skills, including empathy, communication, and teamwork, are fundamental to building trust and promoting positive therapeutic relationships with individuals facing mental health challenges.
