This position focuses on implementing treatment plans, conducting clinical assessments, and managing crisis situations to ensure patient safety and well-being. The technician is responsible for maintaining accurate clinical documentation and assisting in the development and execution of discharge plans to facilitate smooth transitions for patients. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the Behavioral Health Technician contributes to creating a therapeutic environment that promotes recovery and resilience. Ultimately, this role is essential in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care that supports individuals with serious emotional disturbances (SED) and other behavioral health needs.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or higher in a related field preferred.Experience in mental health or behavioral health settings, including direct patient care.Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and ability to maintain detailed records.Basic understanding of crisis intervention techniques and patient safety protocols.Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.Preferred Qualifications:Certification as a Behavioral Health Technician or equivalent credential.Experience working with children and adolescents with Serious Emotional Disturbances (SED).Training in advanced crisis management and de-escalation techniques.Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.Additional coursework or certification in mental health, psychology, or social work.Responsibilities:Conduct clinical assessments and monitor patient behavior to identify changes in mental health status.Provide direct patient care and support, including crisis intervention and management during acute episodes.Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.Assist in developing and implementing individualized discharge plans to ensure continuity of care post-treatment.Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support treatment goals and participate in team meetings and case reviews.Skills:The required skills such as clinical documentation and maintaining accurate records are essential for ensuring compliance and continuity of care, allowing the team to track patient progress effectively. Crisis management and crisis intervention skills are utilized daily to respond promptly and safely to behavioral emergencies, ensuring patient and staff safety. Clinical assessments enable the technician to observe and report critical changes in patient conditions, informing treatment adjustments. Knowledge of mental health and discharge planning supports the technician in facilitating smooth transitions for patients from inpatient care to community or outpatient services. Together, these skills enable the Behavioral Health Technician to provide compassionate, informed, and effective support to patients and the healthcare team.
