Cooks are responsible for delivering food that is not only delicious and cooked to the specifications of the customer but that is safe and fresh as well. They often have the following responsibilities:Ensure ingredients and final products are freshFollow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredientsPresent, garnish and arrange final dishesMaintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishesHandle and store ingredients and foodMaintain food safety and sanitation standardsClean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensilsExecute opening and closing proceduresSet up workstations with required ingredients and equipmentCheck the quality and freshness of ingredientsMonitor station inventory levelsAccommodate guests special requestsOperate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryersOther duties as assigned
